Located just north of Israel on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea, Lebanon boasts a wine tradition that dates back 5000 years. As a witness to the rise and falls of many occupying cultures, Lebanon has been imprinted by many cultures, from ancient Phoenician and Greek to Venetian, Ottoman and Armenian.
More recently, the Lebanese wine industry has emerged stronger than ever after a tumultuous period of civil wars, and is largely influenced by the French. In particular, the ancient wine region of Bekaa Valley enjoys a unique terroir and climate with long gentle summers, wet winters and an average temperature perfect for viticulture. Many of the vineyards are planted at elevations along the Lebanese mountains, slowing the ripening process down so that grapes achieve rich, complex flavors.
Winebow is pleased to take part in representing this new generation of talented winemakers, as they are internationally trained and destined to make world class wine.
