The roots of this family-run winery reach back to 1980 when the Brown parents purchased an abandoned ranch in the eastern hills of Napa. They rehabilitated the crumbling homestead and planted grapes to sell to local winemakers.
In 1995, the Brown siblings—Deneen, David, and Coral—founded Brown Estate and a year later bottled their first vintage of Zinfandel.
Today, Brown Estate has two exceptional labels and remains one of few completely family-owned operations in Napa Valley and the region's only Black-owned estate winery.
To imbue their flagship Zinfandel with the essence of the distinctive Napa terroir, winemaker David Brown sources grapes both from their estate and from vineyards around the Valley. The luxurious 2022 Brown Estate Napa Valley Zinfandel spent eight months in 30% new oak and can be cellared until 2036.
The Chaos Theory Red Blend responds to the unique beauty and challenges of each particular year. The 2021 is intense, savory, and ripe.
Produced from certified sustainable fruit, the approachable House of Brown label was introduced in 2020 to immediate buzz. The vivacious Chardonnay and Rosé and chillable red blend have become a hit with younger consumers thanks to their lighter style and eye-catching branding—inspiring many shares on Social Media.
