Holiday Wines - Faustino & Garzon featured on Bloomberg BusinessWeek

In “New Book Dives into World of Professional Tasting,” Mandy Naglich appears on air with the hosts to discuss her book and how to taste and impress when bringing wines for the holidays. She highlights GARZÓN Reserva Albariño 2024 first, explaining “it’s so melon forward… I love this wine because it’s not too intense and can pair with pretty much any food. So I feel like you can show up to a party and no matter what your host is serving, you’re not going to overpower their dinner and it’s… under $20, so you could bring two bottles, one to serve and one for them to keep later and… you would be a really good guest… this has all the complexity and the right intensity that you want to be paying for that white so you’re getting the flavor without the price tag just because it’s from a little bit of a different region.” Next up is FAUSTINO I Gran Reserva 2014, about which Naglich describes: “should be getting some dark fruits on the nose… and you get a little spice at the end… almost a little bit of black pepper and that will sit on your tongue after is kind of that powerful spice note and that really stewed plum… with this you’ll need a bit more of an intense food, so kind of like some red meats… things like a really rich cheese would be so nice because you get that tannin in the end, something like a gouda and then a sip of this will balance out perfectly and you won’t have too much richness on your palate… under $40…
