Emotions de la Tour Blanche

Brand Description

Château La Tour Blanche is ranked as Premier Cru Classé in the 1855 Classification of Sauternes. The estate is the property of regional government of Aquitaine (the French state) and home to the La Tour Blanche School of Viticulture. Although La Tour Blanche represents essential instructive support for the students, the estate is entirely managed independently by professionals from the wine-growing sector to help preserve the expected level of quality for a classified property of Sauternes. Emotions de La Tour Blanche is a second label, the name of which references the various emotions Sauternes evokes.

Location of Vineyard

The estate is in the village of Bommes in the heart of the Sauternes appellation. Château La Tour Blanche sits at the top of a ridge of gravel over clay and limestone subsoil, 60m above sea level. This advantageous position provides the best possible exposure to the sun, optimal drainage, and special flavors to the wine. The soil contributes to the signature finesse and freshness of Château La Tour Blanche, while in autumn, the alternation of morning mists and hot afternoon sun promotes the development of botrytis cinerea, creating a high concentration of flavors and natural sweetness.

Winemaking and Viticulture Philosophy

Emotions de La Tour Blanche is made from hand-harvested grapes and part of the non-retained must for the “Grand Vin.” The cépage consists mainly of Sémillon, with smaller percentages of Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle which are harvested late and selected for botrytis.  Emotions de La Tour Blanche benefits from all the techniques and skills of Château La Tour Blanche, but unlike the “Grand Vin,” which is fermented and aged in oak barrels, Emotions is vinified and aged exclusively in stainless-steel vats for 18 months to preserve its freshness and aromatic character.

Acclaim
The 2010 La Tour Blanche has a vivacious bouquet with aromas of yellow plum, fig, blood orange and a very subtle oily/lanolin scent. The palate is well balanced with a viscous entry and notes of orange rind, apricot, stem ginger and a touch of white pepper. This feels long, tender and cohesive, with fine depth. The 2010 surpasses subsequent vintages such as the 2011 to 2013. It is excellent. — acclaim for 2010 Emotions de la Tour Blanche Sauternes from Vinous, Mar 2025
The 2018 La Tour Blanche does not quite have the complexity and vigor of the 2019. This is more linear and just missing what you might call "aromatic shoulders." The palate is better, with touches of lemongrass infusing rich honeyed fruit tones. It has fine depth, plenty of energy on the finish and just a touch of VA that gives it a pleasant kick. — acclaim for 2018 Emotions de la Tour Blanche Sauternes from Vinous, Mar 2025
The 2019 La Tour Blanche has a generous bouquet, which is not the most complex of this vintage, with white flower, peach skin and light apricot aromas. The palate is viscous on the entry with a touch of spice and moderate depth. It's quite tensile, with a dab of ginger toward the finish. This is quite elegant for this estate in the line of recent vintages. — acclaim for 2019 Emotions de la Tour Blanche Sauternes from Vinous, Mar 2025
