Jaine

Brand Description

Jaine is a toast to life’s most beautiful moments. Each bottle of refreshingly crisp white and rosé wine comes from hand-harvested grapes from sustainable sites and is crafted with minimal intervention. Capturing the essence of a single vineyard, each wine aims to showcase the place, vintage, and dynamic tension unique to white wines from Washington State.

Location of Vineyard

Washington has nearly the same latitude as some of the top French and Italian winegrowing regions. Thanks to the long, sunny days and cool nights, Washington’s diurnal shift creates ideal temperatures for growing grapes. Contrary to the reputation of the Pacific Northwest, the valley only gets six inches of rainfall per year—as much as the Gobi Desert.

Winemaking and Viticulture Philosophy

Ali Mayfield is an independent winemaker based in Walla Walla. As Consulting Winemaker at Foundry Vineyards, Ali’s first vintage of Chardonnay earned scores of 92 and 94 (Editor’s Choice) from Wine Enthusiast—among the highest Chardonnay scores garnered by a female winemaker in Washington State.

Focusing on small lot, handcrafted wines, Ali is passionate about every step of the winemaking process. Her “leave no stone unturned” approach begins with hand-picking vineyards and thoughtful care of the fruit. As she puts it, “Constantly striving to be better, pushing your boundaries, taking risks. . . that’s how you create beautiful wines.”

Acclaim
“This is a blend of 58% Grenache and 42% Mourvèdre. A pretty pale-bronze color, the aromas bring notes of flower, watermelon Jolly Rancher and peach. Perfumed, bone-dry flavors follow, showing some textural richness. There’s a whole lot of enjoyment to be had.”
— acclaim for 2021 Jaine Ravenscliff Rosé from Wine Enthusiast, Nov 2022
“Fruit for this wine comes from one of the best white-wine vineyards in the state. The aromas are interesting for the variety, with notes of kiwi, papaya, caliche and canned pineapple, largely focusing on the tropical. A mouthful of full-bodied fruit follows.”
— acclaim for 2021 Jaine Evergreen Chardonnay from Wine Enthusiast, Nov 2022
“Fruit for this wine comes from one of the state’s most distinctive Sauvignon Blanc sites. Kiwi, melon rind, pink grapefruit, caliche and flower aromas lead to a fresh, focused, bone-dry palate. Pair it with halibut ceviche.”– (Editors’ Choice)
