Château de Fontenille Bordeaux Rouge

Bordeaux Rouge bottle image

Wine Description

The vines of Château de Fontenille have flourished on gravel terroirs bathed in generous sun since the 13th century. Hidden among the vineyards was a pilgrimage route to the neighboring Benedictine monastery, Abbaye de la Sauve Majeure, whose monks tended to the vines for hundreds of years. With nearly 80 acres dedicated to Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon, the history of this site is alive in the gravel and clay dominated soils that contribute to the complexity of the Château de Fontenille Bordeaux Rouge. Composed of mostly Merlot, this wine is elegant, harmonious and the perfect value to share with friends.

Acclaim
“Softly chewy, fresh and dry Merlot with notes of red plum, cassis, sausage and cedar.”
— Planet Grape, Aug 2018
“Stéphane Defraine’s wine is rich with dark black fruits. The tannins with spice and a firm core give this wine density. It is already powerful and concentrated. It will be ready from 2018.”
— Wine Enthusiast, Sep 2017
