Tons de Duorum Red

Tons de Duorum Red bottle image

Wine Description

Tons de Duorum is inspired by the bright colors that result from the reflection of the sun on the Douro River ("tons" means color nuance), creating different tones in the vineyards. This wine expresses the terroir of the fantastic Douro region, the result of a unique interaction between nature and human effort. Made from a blend of Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz sourced from the Castelo Melhor and Costodio vineyards.

BEST BUY: “Firm in the Douro’s tannic style but also ripe with fruit, this is a youthful wine that shows brightness and richness while offering elegance and a sense of poise.”
— Wine Enthusiast, Jun 2013
“The 2011 Tons red is a big three blend: 50% Touriga Franca, 30% Touriga Nacional and 20% Tinta Roriz. Tank-fermented, it was partly aged in a mixture of used (second and third year) French and American oak for six months. This is one of those fresh, pure and easygoing Douro wines that can be just enchanting in the right context – and with the right expectations. It is a style you see a lot, but this is certainly a good example of it and a good vintage for it. A lot of people will say “I want more” when they taste it. Exuberant, with sweet fruit up front, this just tastes great. It also comes with just enough structure so that it seems to support the fruit well at the moment, giving the wine a lively demeanor. It will benefit from being drunk cooler, say, low ‘60sF. Dig in.”
— Mark Squires, Dec 2013
