Lo Zoccolaio
Brand Description
Lo Zoccolaio is a small but immaculately maintained cascina (small farmhouse) set into the hill of Bricco del Barolo in the comune of the same name. With 23 total estate hectares, of which only 11.3 are planted to Nebbiolo, Lo Zoccolaio is committed to maintaining a small production of superb Langhe wines. The Lo Zoccolaio tree is a great white poplar that sprouts two trees from the same roots. It is known as the tree of life, or as a phyiscal representation of good and evil. Lo Zoccolaio produces only red wines, made from with grapes from their own vineyards located in Barolo, Monforte, Novello and Verduno. Here, wine is never just a product, a merchandise, a fashion. Each bottle contains the history of its population and its territory.
Location of Vineyard
The 23 hectare Lo Zoccolaio Estate is located in Barolo in the Langhe region on the right bank of the Tanaro river. The vineyards face southwest, on the coast of the Tanaro river in Bricco of Barolo.
Winemaking and Viticulture Philosophy
Cascina Lo Zoccolaio follows the winemaking tradition of its past. In every phase of production, from the vineyards to the cellar, the grapes are treated with love and respect. Lo Zoccolaio wines are produced without the use of herbicides, instead, more responsible methods are used, like planting legumes as natural fertilizers. Harvest is carried out rigorously by hand, and only the best grapes are selected in order to reach a high quality standard.
