Wine Description

Capogatto is the Tuscan name for the old method used to train and duplicate the vines in the vineyards, a process technically known as "layering." This wine is made from equal parts Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, which were harvested in September.

Acclaim
“The 2014 Capogatto is Poggio Scalette's blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. In keeping with the style of the year, the flavors are bright and delineated, with midweight structure and tons of energy. It will be interesting to see how the 2014 develops. Today, it is best described as a wine of Poggio Scalette and the vintage, as the personality of the French varieties is not especially evident. A bit of time in the glass does wonders. This is another very pretty and expressive wine.”
