Valle Reale Montepulciano d’Abruzzo

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo (Organic Grapes) DOC bottle image

Wine Description

The organic Montepulciano grapes that produce this wine are sourced from two separate vineyards: Popoli and Capestrano. Capestrano's soaring summer temperatures and silty soils yield richness and structure.  The rocky and exposed terrain of Popoli bestows fragrance and freshness.  Spontaneous fermentation binds the raw materials into a sum that is greater than its individual parts-- a wine that is both rich and elegant, and that speaks clearly of its terroir.

Acclaim
“The primary fruit really springs out of the glass with elderberry reduction, violet extract and a hint of banana peel. Medium body, bright acidity and a fruity finish.”
— James Suckling, Oct 2018
“Luminous ruby. Fresh, easygoing aromas and flavors of red cherry, flint and violet, complicated by hints of licorice and black tea. Juicy and clean, revealing a mineral twinge at the back. For an entry-level wine, this is top-notch.”
— Vinous, Sep 2018
