Valle Reale Vigneto di Popoli

Vigneto di Popoli Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC bottle image

Wine Description

Because of its unique location, Valle Reale has redefined Montepulciano d’Abruzzo: at 1,100+ feet above sea level, Valle Reale’s vineyards are nestled into one of Italy’s most beautiful national parks. This rich wine is made from 100% Montepulciano grown in the oldest estate vineyards on soils rich in chalk, clay, and pebbles. Harvested by hand in November, the grapes are gently pressed and macerated with the skins for ten days to ensure ideal color concentration and structure.

Acclaim
“Super-ripe red cherries, mint, flowers, licorice and French oak are some of the many notes that emerge from the 2009 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Vigneto di Popoli. Flashy and exuberant but well balanced, the 2009 is all about layers of fruit and succulence. The 2009 is a bit forward, but it will provide considerable pleasure if opened over the next few years. It, too, is another fabulous value.”
— Antonio Galloni, Feb 2013
“Pretty nose of violet and spice waft through this well-knit red, with a tang of acidity and supple tannins framing layered flavors of black cherry puree, tomato paste, grilled herb and date. Firm finish.”
— Wine Spectator, May 2014
