Catena Zapata Malbec Argentino
Wine Description
The Catena Zapata Malbec Argentino is one of three high-end Malbecs first released by the winery in 2007. Like its siblings, the wine exemplifies Nicolás Catena’s success and pioneering research with the Malbec grape in Mendoza. The vines for Catena Zapata Malbec Argentino are carefully chosen from two of the winery’s best vineyard sites: the Adrianna and the Nicasia. In general, significantly lower temperatures characterized the 2004-2005 vintage, resulting in heightened flavor and intense aroma concentration. The unusually cold nighttime lows offered the opportunity for the vines to retain increased levels of natural acids, lending wonderful balance to the fruit as well as excellent freshness.
