Tilia Malbec Syrah

Malbec Syrah bottle image

Wine Description

The Tilia wines are made at Bodegas Esmeralda in the Eastern region of Mendoza. They are made by Alejandro Viggiani, a winemaker and viticulturist in charge of all Catena family vineyards in Eastern Mendoza. As Argentina's signature Malbec continues to rise in popularity, so too does the quality of the wines being produced. Additionally, many winemakers are creating some exciting blends using Malbec like this Malbec-Syrah blend. The grapes for this wine are sourced from vineyards in the Eastern and Southern regions of Mendoza with an elevation ranging from 1,968 to 3,937 feet above sea level.

Acclaim
"It has a ripe, rounded floral nose that is more extroverted than others in the Tilia range of 2011s: creme de cassis, blueberry and crushed violets. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a firm grip."
— Neal Martin, Oct 2012
“Bright ruby-red. Complex aromas of cassis, blackberry, menthol and flint, along with subtle hints of leather and game. Supple, sweet and mellow but with nicely integrated acidity brightening the dark berry and cherry flavors. Finishes with refined tannins and good life. A superb value.”
— International Wine Cellar, Mar 2013
