Faustino V Reserva

Wine Description

Bodegas Faustino, one of the ‘First Families of Rioja’, was founded in 1861 by the Martinez family and is actively managed today by the 6th generation Martinez daughters. Faustino received its recognition from the first export of Faustino Reserva wines in the 1960s. Today, the iconic bottle featuring Rembrandt's art has become the symbol of the excellence of Rioja wines, and Faustino wines are now enjoyed in more than 140 countries.

Acclaim
“This dark ruby-colored wine offers aromas of Luxardo cherry and toasted baking spices. It is very spicy at first sip as flavors of clove and mint leaf with a touch of black pepper hit the taste buds, followed by blackberry, cherry and raspberry flavors. Muscular tannins are balanced out by well-integrated acidity that stays around for a while.” – (Best Buy) — Wine Enthusiast, Oct 2024

About the Vineyard

Vineyards are located in the Oyón area of the Rioja Alavesa zone at an average altitude of 450m. Soils are predominantly calcareous based on marl, alternating with coarse-grained sandstone that easily crumbles and is laid out horizontally. The terrain has a slight slope, which means that the lower areas collect eroded material from the higher areas. This soil gives the grapes grown here aromas and notes of undergrowth. What’s more, it also adds warmth to the wines.
