Castello di Neive Barbaresco

Barbaresco DOCG bottle image

Wine Description

The grapes for this wine come from some of the most-respected vineyards in the Barbaresco DOCG (Gallina, Messoirano, Valtorta, and a part of Santo Stefano).  It is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown on vines that average 30 years of age.  The grapes for this wine are pressed and then allowed to mature in wooden vats for 2 years to smooth the tannins and develop the wines’ complex flavors.

Acclaim
“Though muscular, this shows a layer of inviting cherry and raspberry flavors, shaded by hints of licorice, tar, mineral and menthol. Offers fine energy and is well-balanced overall, with a long, complex aftertaste.” – (Top Wine) (Online Only Review)  — Wine Spectator, Apr 2024
“The 2020 Barbaresco is a very pretty, classy wine. Crushed flowers, bright red-toned fruit, tobacco, cedar and mint are some of the notes that waft from the glass in this attractive, mid-weight Barbaresco. I would give this a bit of air to help the bouquet come together. It's a lovely wine from Castello di Neive, and absolutely stellar in its peer group.” — Vinous, Oct 2023
