Wine Description

Château Beau-Site, located on stony soils close to Château Calon Ségur, lies on ones of Médoc’s highest points and has a fantastic view over the River Gironde. This is fitting since the meaning of Beau-Site is ‘beautiful site’. Château Beau-Site is located outside the village of St. Corbian, which is at the northern extremity of the St. Estèphe appellation. There are nearly 35 hectares of vines with an average age of 35 years and the plantings are comprised of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot.

After manual harvesting, the wine is vinified traditionally and then matured in oak casks (50% new) for 12-15 months.

“The 2017 Beau-Site has a rather closed and subdued nose at the moment. Perhaps it is just awkward after bottling? The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannins, moderate acidity, but it lacks some flair and personality on the finish. Drink over the next 5-6 years.”

“A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Beau Site is medium garnet-purple colored with lovely notions of black raspberries, red and black cherries and mulberries with touches of underbrush and black truffles.
