High Note Malbec

Malbec bottle image

Wine Description

Grapes are sourced from five vineyards with sandy loam soils, ranging in elevation 3,300 - 5,000 feet above sea level. Vista Flores vineyard has flavors of spice, red fruits and minerality. La Consulta adds black fruit and mid-palate weight while Altamira's fruit has notes of violets. Eugenio Bustos vineyard offers racy acidity and floral notes while adding to the violet color. Gualtallary vineyard, at the highest altitude, brings deep purple color and additional floral and black fruit notes balanced with acidity.

Acclaim
“The 2012 High Note Malbec is complemented with 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and is sourced from high-altitude vineyards in the Uco Valley, hence the name. The grapes are harvested early, mostly sourced from external suppliers, and fermented with natural yeast and non-acidified. It is quite dark-colored, with flowery note of black, ripe fruit and a rustic touch. The palate is medium-bodied, with tension, acidity and dusty tannins. Concentrated but drinkable.”
— Luis Gutierrez, Apr 2014
“Dark red with ruby tones. Aromas of blackberry, violet and pepper plus a whiff of walnutty oak. Dense and seamless in the mouth, with an enticing sweetness to the blackberry and spice flavors. Very pliant, rich Malbec but I marked it down for its slightly tired nutty aspect and suggestion of residual sugar. Finishes with a fine dusting of tannins and a slowly emerging dryness.”
— International Wine Cellar, Apr 2014
