Monastero La Pineta

La Pineta Pinot Nero Toscana IGT bottle image

Wine Description

While Pinot Nero is capable of producing wines of extraordinary elegance and harmony, it sometimes has difficulty adapting to conditions in Italy. To succeed with this grape in a land known for indigenous varietals, Alessandro Cellai had to approach every operation in the vineyard and the cellar meticulously. For example, he found that allowing the skins to macerate with dry ice prior to fermentation brought out more finessed perfumed aromas.

Acclaim
“A rich, exuberant wine, the 2011 Pinot Noir bursts from the glass with juicy red cherries, licorice, mint, sweet spices and hard candy. The style is intense and fruit-driven, but at the same time all the elements are nicely balanced. There is a lot to like here.”
— Antonio Galloni, Aug 2013
