Wine Description

Cerceal is a key grape in the production of Madeira. After a careful selection and pressing, the wine is fermented in half barrels of French oak. It then spends six months aging in barrel for additional refinement.

Acclaim
“A wood-aged, smooth and ripe wine from the Cerceal grape, this has rich peach and yellow-plum flavors, a soft texture and an attractive edge of spice from the wood. Sourced from vineyards close to the ocean, south of Oporto.”
— Wine Enthusiast, Oct 2013
“The 2012 Branco (Quinta de Foz de Arouce), in the Beira Atlantico appellation now, is an oak-aged Cerceal (80% used, 20% new French oak for six months). Combining nice texture and reasonable solidity, although it is not overly concentrated, it has beautiful structure, acidity cutting through the oak and a well-balanced demeanor, with a hint of flint on the edge. It finishes with tasty fruit, although not a lot of persistence. It should hold fairly nicely, too.”
— Mark Squires, Dec 2013
