Villa Maria Single Vineyard Keltern Chardonnay

Villa Maria Single Vineyard Keltern Chardonnay

Wine Description

The Keltern Vineyard was established in 1999. Sitting east of Maraekakaho and hugging the western edge of the Bridge Pa Triangle and the Ngaruroro river, this unique site has over time become synonymous with exceptional Chardonnay, earning it’s pace amongst New Zealand’s finest with an unparalleled consistency in blind tasting success across multiple formats since the initial 2002 vintage.

Acclaim
“Prominent oak spices on the nose, showing vanilla and toast with notes of ripe citrus and stone fruit. Opulent on the palate, creamy and full-bodied, very well textured, in harmony with a beautiful crisp acidity.”
— Decanter World Wine Awards, Jun 2022
"The 2020 Chardonnay Keltern is taking no prisoners in 2020. It is an uncompromising, firm expression. Concentrated and textural, it remains clean, taut and athletic, pulled through from the starting gun to the finish line by a lime-like citrusy acidity alongside flinty notes and classy new-wood-derived hazelnuts (barrel fermentation). It's clearly had a lot of TLC in both the vineyard and the winery, but it's a little uptight and urgent at the moment; patience will be rewarded.”
— Vinous, Mar 2022
