Castellare S. Niccolò Vin Santo

S. Niccolò Vin Santo del Chianti Classico DOC bottle image

Wine Description

Made from 60% Malvasia and 40% Trebbiano, the grapes used in the wine are harvested from various estate vineyards in Castellina. After harvest, the grapes are dried and fermentation is carried out slowly in small barrels known as caratelli. The wine is then aged in these barrels for an additional five years.

Acclaim
"The 2010 Vin Santo del Chianti Classico S. Niccolo (375 ml) is a gorgeous expression. It ages for five years in small oak caratelli and represents a blend of 60% Malvasia Bianca and 40% Trebbiano Toscano with 16% alcohol. The bouquet is beautifully redolent of caramel, candied fruit, honey, toasted almond and sponge cake. The wine feels rich and super velvety on the finish. This is a precious dessert wine from Tuscany."
— Monica Larner, Dec 2016
A light, savory Vin Santo, offering mushroom, caramel, apricot and spice aromas and flavors. Vibrant and tangy, leaving a walnut and orange peel finish. Malvasia and Trebbiano.
