Di Majo Norante Don Luigi Riserva

Don Luigi Montepulciano del Molise Riserva DOC bottle image

Wine Description

Made from 90% Montepulciano and 10% Aglianico grown in estate vineyards in the southeastern region of Molise. After the harvest, the grapes are pressed and macerated 20-25 days with the skins, to obtain greater color and flavor extraction. Afterwards, the wine is transferred into Allier and Tronçais barriques where it ages for 12-18 months.

Acclaim
Di Majo Norante's 2004 Don Luigi (Montepulciano and Tintilia) reveals notes of smoke, tobacco, underbrush, cherries and licorice. Made in a generous style, it offers outstanding length and terrific balance, with an inviting note of sweetness that rounds out the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2018. (Di Majo Norante is located in Molise, one of the least well-known regions in Italy. Proprietor Alessio Di Majo and consulting oenologist Riccardo Cotarella make plump, richly-flavored wines that offer incredible value for the money.)
