Di Majo Norante Don Luigi Riserva

Don Luigi Montepulciano del Molise Riserva DOC bottle image

Wine Description

Don Luigi was made in tribute to Don Luigi Di Majo Norante, the patriarch of this estate. The wine undergoes a period of extended maceration to achieve incredible color and concentration before being refined further in Allier and Tronçais barriques for 12-18 months. The resulting wine is a benchmark expression of Montepulciano from the Molise region.

Acclaim
“Another unqualified success, the flagship 2009 Rosso Riserva Don Luigi is expressive and powerful. Sweet floral and spice notes add elements of finesse to this deep, refined Montepulciano/Aglianico blend. A silky, perfumed finish rounds things out nicely. This is another marvelous showing from Di Majo Norante.”
— Antonio Galloni, Feb 2013
“A proud signature of Molise, Don Luigi Riserva is a lovely Montepulciano-based wine – with 10% Aglianico – that opens with dark aromas of leather, tobacco, bitter chocolate and plump blackberry. It delivers solid tannins backed by smooth concentration.”
— Wine Enthusiast, Feb 2013
