Wine Description

Elegant and classic Pinot Noir that fits the name "Grandmother".  Laura has a profound respect for what grandparents do for children, and she wanted to honor their love and wisdom with this wine.

Acclaim
Lovely aromas of bergamot and lemon thyme pave the way for a suave-textured and juicy display of cherry, pomegranate and red currant flavors, which ride a gentle wave of minerally acidity onto the clean, precise finish, with subtle herbal notes folding in. — Wine Spectator, Feb 2025
“One of a range of brilliant Pinot Noirs from the youthful Roy Urvieta, Grand Mère comes from a two-hectare parcel plamted with 115 and 667 Dijon clones in Villa Bastías. Fermented with 20% whole clusters, it has succulent wild strawberry and pomegranate fruit, graceful tannins and a tangy finish.” — Tim Atkin, MW, Jun 2024

About the Vineyard

Villa Bastias is located in Tupungato within the Uco Valley.  The vineyard is old and planted with Dijon Clones in 1993.  The Grand Mère parcel gets more sun than the Grand Pere block, with generous and silky tannins. Winemaking is traditional and gentle for these delicate wines.  Yields are extrememly low in both sites due to the age of the vineyard.
